He takes what the enemy means for evil <span style="font-family: 'Helvetica Neue Light', HelveticaNeue-Light, helvetica, arial, sans-serif;">and repurposes it for His own glory. As an creative type person, I strive to find ways to reflect His truth in my work. Here is a peek at one of the ways I do that. She is the unfortunate step-daughter of an uncaring woman. She wears dirty raggedy old clothes because that is what she has been given. Her stepmother uses this as a tactic to try and define who she is. She is told that she is unworthy of attending the grand ball hosted by the king, She doesn't even have a new gown appropriate to wear in the presence of royalty.<div><br></div><div>Cinderella has a glimmer of an idea and makes a new dress for herself which her stepmother & stepsisters quickly rip to shreds. Just when she finds herself utterly hopeless, her fairy Godmother shows up and provides for her with not only a fancy ball gown but everything she needs to go to the party. </div><div><br></div><div>Now imagine for a moment that Cinderella decides that she doesn't need to take off her old dress after all. She chooses to reject the gifts she has been given and do it on her own. She decides to keep wearing her own old rags and goes to the palace and seeks entrance. Do you suppose that she is going to be successful? It would be silly to think that she wouldn't use the gifts she was given.</div><div><br></div><div>Similar to Cinderella's fairy Godmother, Christ gives us everything we need to live a spirit filled life when we come to Him.</div><div><br></div><div> <span style="-webkit-text-size-adjust: auto; background-color: rgba(255, 255, 255, 0);">"But to each one of us grace was given according to the measure of Christ's gift."(Ephesians 4:7 NASB)</span></div><div><span style="-webkit-text-size-adjust: auto; background-color: rgba(255, 255, 255, 0);"><br></span></div><div><span style="-webkit-text-size-adjust: auto; background-color: rgba(255, 255, 255, 0);">The enemy, like the evil stepmother, does everything he can to try to convince us that we are unworthy, our identity will always be wrapped up in who we were before. And </span><span style="font-family: 'Helvetica Neue Light', HelveticaNeue-Light, helvetica, arial, sans-serif;">unfortunately, many of us are deceived by that and choose to try to do it our own strength. Some of us continue to wear the old rags because they are familiar. The thought of having everything we need just given to us is difficult for us to comprehend so we buy into the thought that we don't need a new identity to be successful if we just try a little harder. We make self sufficiency our best friend.</span></div><div><br></div><div>However, in Ephesians Paul tells us we must remove those old clothes, that former identity and put on what Christ has provided for us:</div><div><br></div><div>You were taught, with regard to your former way of life, to put off your old self, which is being corrupted by its deceitful desires; to be made new in the attitude of your minds; and to put on the new self, created to be like God in true righteousness and holiness. (Ephesians 4:22-24 NIV)</div><div><br></div><div>Please know that Christ thought you were so valuable that you were worth dying for. Every good and perfect gift is available to you but you must choose to accept them and allow them to transform your life. </div><div><br></div><div><b><i>Cherry Fargo</i></b></div><div><b><i>Being Remade</i></b></div><div><br></div><div><br></div><div><br></div><div><br></div>Bing ReMadehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01028080371176523323noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2755197945093637584.post-57625690512953266342015-02-11T07:55:00.001-08:002015-02-11T13:39:26.248-08:00Repairers Of The Breach<div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjeAgtdI_aPF4XY_qE5NUdGaH8zflj1RbRYik6SmorNjsym6IMtwssD1qtWMMjA-ed0h7f3BCLZsOgpaB_HuoRFYK7fupGZNm8QN7msL6yg6R0StsPLj3gb1e_erqZA3YhU0q6xpip_SG4/s640/blogger-image-13373022.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjeAgtdI_aPF4XY_qE5NUdGaH8zflj1RbRYik6SmorNjsym6IMtwssD1qtWMMjA-ed0h7f3BCLZsOgpaB_HuoRFYK7fupGZNm8QN7msL6yg6R0StsPLj3gb1e_erqZA3YhU0q6xpip_SG4/s640/blogger-image-13373022.jpg"></a></div>I was drawn to Nehemiah chapter 3 this morning. It is so interesting to read about all the different types of people who were involved in rebuilding the wall of Jerusalem.<div><br></div><div>There weren't construction workers, there were priests, neighbors, gold smiths, officials, daughters & temple servants all involved in the repairs, they all had a part to play in it. </div><div><br></div><div>Likewise, today we all have a part in sealing up the breaches where the enemy comes in to attack the family of God. Our shovels and trowels have just been replaced by the word of God, prayer and ministry. </div><div><br></div><div>The place that you are called to build up may be families, teens, children, women, men, drug addicts, sex trafficking, abused, elderly and so on. Be prepared to jump in and tear down the rubble first though. You must to have a solid foundation to rebuild on. It may take time to uncover all of the lies of the enemy and replace them with God's truth. This happens through love and relationships. Genuinely caring and pouring our lives into those God places in our lives is the best place to start.</div><div><br></div><div>Remember also that the inhabitants of the city were not working on the barrier because construction was their trade but rather they saw the need for and value in the safety the wall provided and they were willing to jump in and be a part of it rather than say "oh that's not my job". Many of them just worked in front of their homes & neighborhoods, others took on greater responsibilities. Be open to hearing from God what your part is and willing to follow through beginning with what is right in front of you. We are all called to build the kingdom of God. </div><br><div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><br></div>Bing ReMadehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01028080371176523323noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2755197945093637584.post-85227762198523231752015-01-23T07:24:00.001-08:002015-01-23T07:24:53.417-08:00Made For Battle<div>Made For Battle</div><div><br></div><div>As Christians, we are made for battle. God's word tells us clearly that we will have trials and tribulations, or in today's vernacular, challenges and struggles. </div><div><br></div><div>"Therefore, take up the full armor of God, so that you will be able to resist in the evil day, and having done everything to stand firm." Ephesians 6:13</div><div><br></div><div>The enemy can NOT win unless we give up, however, sometimes we don't throw in the towel but we do back away from the battle, we retreat to what we think is a safe place and we find that the struggles seem to ease up, the challenges appear to be a bit easier. We convince ourselves that we can take a break without losing any ground. What we don't realize is this is a tactic of the enemy, if he can't get us to surrender, he'll trick us into a powerless position. Much of our skirmish take place in prayer and study. We need to be on the offense and prayer puts us there. Our goal needs to be to continually march forward into the the battles laid before us. When we do, we grow and learn personally but we also make a way for those around us to step into their battles.</div><div><br></div><div>There may be times when we are overwhelmed and flat out exhausted, when we do not even know how what or how to pray for ourselves. This is why God calls us to live in community with other believers and why He calls us to me merciful, compassionate and full of grace for one another. When we find ourselves tempted to run for the hills, we need to instead sound the alarm. If we will share with our trusted brothers and sisters in Christ, they can come along side of us or maybe even surround us and battle on our behalf until we are strong enough to join back in. This way, no ground is lost, the enemy gains nothing on us. </div><div><br></div><div>Yes the victory is God's and in the heavenlies, it is already secured but we must still do our part, for ourselves, for our children, for the less fortunate, for the lost and wayward. Our role is vital and God has given us every tool we need to be successful and advance the battle lines for His glory. Be alert, be aware, be willing to sound an alarm when needed and be ready to respond to the battle cry of those around you.</div>Bing ReMadehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01028080371176523323noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2755197945093637584.post-17933895952630307472014-10-28T19:47:00.000-07:002014-10-28T20:29:19.501-07:00Why A Homecoming Nomination Mattered To Me<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi0Q2sPCMmlBOXbfd272npY2ZE5jqhS_sIoZZz8hOfeZkKHhikK8078KrmkAIuBe59qCMbApkTVXSphyphenhyphen7a-HlCLR-SFOFoCN4PeD64KqghVp2A7stS_Sigl3qKqSn-scw-Hm0sLD-lD_TE/s1600/homecoming.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi0Q2sPCMmlBOXbfd272npY2ZE5jqhS_sIoZZz8hOfeZkKHhikK8078KrmkAIuBe59qCMbApkTVXSphyphenhyphen7a-HlCLR-SFOFoCN4PeD64KqghVp2A7stS_Sigl3qKqSn-scw-Hm0sLD-lD_TE/s1600/homecoming.jpg" height="179" width="200" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
A Mother's Joy</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
This is my son's senior year in high school. He is a part of the marching band, serves on the loading crew, participates on UIL teams, and is the Debate Club President. In many ways, he is not unlike his peers, but I am delighted that he has found so many activities that he enjoys and so many places where he belongs. In spite of his many activities, I was quite surprised and excited to find out that he had been selected as a nominee for Homecoming King.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
It is probably safe to say that most, if not all, parents would be beaming with pride and joy to have a child nominated for the Homecoming Court. So naturally, why would I be any different and why am I making such a big fuss about it? Some people may think it is from a place of parental bragging rights or some sort of assumed status, but in all sincerity, for me it comes from an overwhelming sense of awe and gratitude. There was a time when my son's future did not seem to have such a wonderful outlook.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
You see, when he was just two-and-a-half, he received a diagnosis on the Autism Spectrum. At that time, he had no communication skills whatsoever. He would not speak, he would not make eye contact, he wouldn't even point to things he wanted or needed. And if that wasn't enough to scare a mother of a small child, he also had uncontrollable meltdowns almost daily caused by a sensory processing disorder and our inability to understand what he needed.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Before his diagnosis, I had imagined grand things for him. I envisioned that he would be a great pastor, godly politician or honorable military leader. I dreamt of great and mighty things he would accomplish. So the news that he might never speak, might never develop social skills, might not ever be independent blindsided me in a way I never could have anticipated.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
With a little time of processing this news, I came to realize that I needed to mourn the loss of my expectations for my child in order to really accept him for who he was and then become the best advocate and cheerleader for him that I could be. I might have had to lay aside my expectations but I refused to give up my hope that he might live a rich and rewarding life. One in which he would love and know love. One in which he would know purpose and be able to contribute to the lives of those around him. </div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
It's been a long, and often challenging process, but as my husband and I looked for ways to help meet his needs, always pushed for what was in his best interest and educated everyone who had influence in his life about his challenges, we have seen him grow and blossom. Often times it required us to nudge him just outside of his comfort zone so he could learn what he needed to and gain confidence. Of course, we had lots of help along the way: family, church family, para professionals, and many teachers have all contributed to his success. We certainly could not have done it without them. The progress he has made is truly awe inspiring. Most people who meet him now never suspect he has an Asperger's diagnosis because he has come so very far.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
So why exactly did his Homecoming nomination matter so much to me? Mostly words fail me, I feel my chest is going to burst at the seems with a joy I can not contain. There is no way to describe how amazing it is when something you thought could never be becomes a reality. But in the simplest way I can express it, I guess it is because it is the evidence that he is well liked and sociable, that he fits in and does make a difference and an impact in the lives of his peers. It is the fulfillment of so much more than I hoped for and it is the soft whisper of God to my heart that says "See, I am not done with him yet." </div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
I think I will continue to believe great and mighty things for his life.</div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiuGkTziy__B7YUTsLwp8rmRE5286IO_jRjNZnvO9k3USKeT-QNGlAAGoC2EQ573cUhAB_7rEMRtiPX_BfEJNGjP4-xQ_6_bN4rm895Lgje1qXeE16-MyvYRP5PLY6OeSGITv8WGAWHV3k/s640/blogger-image-1268768384.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="150" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiuGkTziy__B7YUTsLwp8rmRE5286IO_jRjNZnvO9k3USKeT-QNGlAAGoC2EQ573cUhAB_7rEMRtiPX_BfEJNGjP4-xQ_6_bN4rm895Lgje1qXeE16-MyvYRP5PLY6OeSGITv8WGAWHV3k/s200/blogger-image-1268768384.jpg" width="200" /></a></div>
</div>
<div>
<h2 style="text-align: center;">
Prove It!</h2>
</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: Times, Times New Roman, serif;">I love it when The Lord reminds me of a lesson He has been teaching me. I don't think I will ever master some of them this side of heaven and that's why I need reminders. Today's reminder came from listening to my favorite morning show on the radio, KCBI with Jeff & Rebecca. I only get to listen for about 20 minutes in the car as I am taking kiddos to school and I always enjoy every minute of it. It is often a source of inspiration as it was today. I had been wondering what I was going to blog about and on this morning's program was one of those reminders.</span></div>
<div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: Times, Times New Roman, serif;"><br /></span></div>
</div>
<div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: Times, Times New Roman, serif;">As a child, I had an abusive step-father for many years. He often said these words to me: "You are so stupid! You are never going to amount to anything when you grow up." When he said this to me I would think "You just wait until I grow up and we will see who the stupid one is!" For a long time after, it seemed to me that I had been so strong in those moments, that I hadn't allowed his hateful words to crush me. </span></div>
</div>
<div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: Times, Times New Roman, serif;"><br /></span></div>
</div>
<div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: Times, Times New Roman, serif;">Over the years I have come to realize that, although I wasn't crushed by his statements, I was indeed broken because I felt compelled that I needed to prove him wrong. What he said about me couldn't be right and I would not allow it to be. That's a lot of pressure to put on one's self. It may look like confidence but it becomes bondage because when you are always striving to prove someone wrong, you are never free to just be who God created you to be. </span></div>
</div>
<div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: Times, Times New Roman, serif;"><br /></span></div>
</div>
<div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: Times, Times New Roman, serif;">That bondage also carried over into other relationships for me. I ended up in conflict with someone at a church I attended over something I was sure God had called me to do. <span style="-webkit-text-size-adjust: auto; background-color: rgba(255, 255, 255, 0);">This wasn't something I had taken lightly, I had sought counsel and prayed over it. </span>Since I was already carrying this big chip on my shoulders, I was deeply wounded and offended when my motives were misjudged and I wanted to rise up and prove them wrong. </span><span style="font-family: Times, 'Times New Roman', serif;">God calls us chosen, blessed, redeemed. He wants us to step out in faith to minister to others. He gives us gifts and talents to do that so </span><span style="font-family: Times, Times New Roman, serif;">I also wanted to prove what God says about me was right. </span><span style="font-family: Times, 'Times New Roman', serif;"> </span><span style="font-family: Times, Times New Roman, serif;">That there was a calling on my life. </span><span style="font-family: Times, 'Times New Roman', serif;">Because if I could prove God right, then that would definitely prove my ex-step-father wrong. </span></div>
</div>
<div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: Times, Times New Roman, serif;"><br /></span></div>
</div>
<div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: Times, Times New Roman, serif;">As I struggled with this "I'll show you mentality", God began to reveal to me that He already knows my heart. He knows all of my thoughts. He is my perfect judge and advocate. He is my redeemer, creator, loving father. And then He impressed upon me that I do not have to prove anyone else wrong, because God knows the truth anyways and what do man's opinions really matter? We are not to seek our affirmations from the people around us, we are to look to Christ for our identity, (Galatians 1:10). I also do not have to prove God right either. He is sovereign, almighty, all powerful. What can I possibly do to defend His honor that He can't do a million times better. What can I possibly do to force His purpose to be fulfilled in my life in my timing? Nothing at all. He is the author and perfecter of my faith, my calling, the purpose He has for my life. He simply calls me to submit to being remade in His image and to follow His lead. He is calling you to the same.</span></div>
</div>
<div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: Times, Times New Roman, serif;"><br /></span></div>
</div>
<div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: Times, Times New Roman, serif;">God loves you! It doesn't matter what the world thinks or what you are unfairly criticized for as long as you are chasing after Christ. There is nothing any amount of striving can accomplish so believe what God says about you and REST in it. You don't have to prove anything, you don't have to prove anyone wrong and you don't have to prove God right either.</span></div>
</div>

<div align="center" class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">
My life tends to be messy.
It has almost always been that way. I have been told by a few that it is
messier than what many people’s lives are and yet I know that is not as messy
as others. Some of it is my own doing, consequences of my sin and bad
choices. More of it is the fall out of
the sin of other people in my life and a portion of it is just plain old
circumstantial, a part of the journey.</div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<o:p></o:p></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<br /></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">
For a very long time I have had this perception that life
just isn’t suppose to look like this.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>I
have thought that if I work hard enough to reach my goals and dreams, if I love
God enough and am faithful to chase after Him, if I serve Him well then life
will be far less messy, I would have everything I think I need and this journey
would become easier.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>Because of things I
experienced as a child, I have had it stuck in my head that it is <i>all</i>, always,
my responsibility, if I don’t do this and that and all of the other things,
life will always be this way with the next mess happening before the last one
is ever cleaned up and it will be my fault when it does.<o:p></o:p></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">
I never had the opportunity to learn how to just “be” as a
child.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>An enormous amount of
responsibility was thrust on me at an early age and as a result I have spent
the majority of my life thinking that who I am is based on what I do instead of
just being a child of God.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>Redeemed,
rescued, saved by grace have never seemed like enough.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>Oh, I believe that my salvation is secure but
I have struggled with the fear that all this mess is meaningless unless I turn
it into something bright and shiny and magnificent to bring God glory.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>I strive to clean up all the messes and
attempt to get it all together so that I will feel worthy enough to be who He
created me to be. Responsibility has become a stronghold and an idol, one that
I am in the process of tearing down by admitting my limitations, by recognizing
that I am very hard on myself, by acknowledging it’s not even within my power to
make something out of it all.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span><span style="color: #343434; mso-bidi-font-family: "Helvetica Neue";">“Not by might nor
by power, but by My Spirit,' says the Lord of hosts.”<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>Zechariah 4:6<o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="color: #343434;">I am also learning to accept that this IS life, it is
challenging, it is messy and that is okay.</span><span style="color: #343434;">
</span><span style="color: #343434;">It’s okay for me to acknowledge my hurts and disappointments, then carry
them to my Father in Heaven and exchange them for His truth and promises, His
strength and His grace. God does want me to do my part but my responsibility is
not the planning, doing and trying to control that I have made it.
Rather it’s the sitting, waiting and trusting that God really means for it to be.</span></div>

really magnificent thing is the healing that He brings to our own hearts when
we learn to live where grace and responsibility overlap, when we learn how to
just be His child who daily brings to Him the messes of our lives, not out of
any agenda of our own, but out of trust and faith that whatever He does with
it, His plan is perfect.<o:p></o:p></div>

Good Morning,</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
From love to self-control, the last two weeks have been amazing walking through The Fruit of The Spirit with you guys. Some of them were easier to grasp and put into practice for me but I am so grateful for a God who empowers us to do what He calls to do. This devotional was intended to challenge you to get into the word of God consistently as well as really think about how you could apply it to your life daily. I was surprised at how many days God put opportunities directly in my path that related to the mornings topic and gave me a chance to practice what God was speaking to me. I would love to hear from you if you had similar experiences.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I want to thank each and every one of you who have taken this journey with me and encouraged me along the way. This was a challenge I set for myself to be able to write consistently for the 10 days/two weeks and I have learned so much from it. My goal is to do more or these types of devotionals in the future. I may start another one in the fall. I have a heart to encourage those who God puts in my path whether it is a virtual path or a physical one, I want to honor God in that. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I do need your help though! Feedback is so valuable. I would love to hear your thoughts about what you liked best about this devotional study and how it impacted you. Were the devotionals a pretty quick read? Did the challenge/action steps make an impact on you? Is this the type of devotional you might refer a friend to? What did you like best? And if you have any other suggestions, please feel free to share them in the comment section or email me at beingremadeshop@gmail.com </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Appreciate you!</div>

say “No” to ungodliness and worldly passions, and to live self-controlled,

<div class="MsoNormal" style="mso-layout-grid-align: none; mso-pagination: none; text-autospace: none;">
<span style="color: #262626; font-family: Georgia; font-size: 14.0pt; mso-bidi-font-family: Georgia;">Self-control is the last of the
fruit of the Spirit, possibly the most challenging for many of us. This is the
power switch for harvesting all the others.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;">
</span>But let’s face it, we want what we want when we want it and exactly how
we want it. That is the mindset of our society.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;">
</span>In stark contrast is the definition of self-control: the ability to
control oneself, in particular one’s emotions and desires or the expression of
them in one’s behavior, especially in difficult circumstances.<o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="mso-layout-grid-align: none; mso-pagination: none; text-autospace: none;">
<br /></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="mso-layout-grid-align: none; mso-pagination: none; text-autospace: none;">
<span style="color: #262626; font-family: Georgia; font-size: 14.0pt; mso-bidi-font-family: Georgia;">I think the greatest example of
self-control by far was Jesus’ commitment to die on the cross.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>He had the ability to make His pain stop, to
make those who persecuted and tortured Him cease, to call ten thousand angels
to His rescue. He didn’t do any of those things though because He knew that the
pay off of His restraint was well worth it. There was a plan and a goal to be
achieved, the reconciliation of mankind into relationship with God, and there
was no other way to bring it to pass.<o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="mso-layout-grid-align: none; mso-pagination: none; text-autospace: none;">
<br /></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="mso-layout-grid-align: none; mso-pagination: none; text-autospace: none;">
<span style="color: #262626; font-family: Georgia; font-size: 14.0pt; mso-bidi-font-family: Georgia;">And so should it be with us, we
should dig deep to find the fortitude to remain committed to growing in Christ,
to become conformed to His likeness. It is not always going to be pretty or
easy. We will certainly face challenges in cultivating the fruit of the Spirit in
our lives. Trust that He has a plan and purpose and that the practice of godly
restraint in our lives will develop character in our lives. We must choose to
look beyond our immediate circumstances and endure whatever God allows us to go
through. It is our choice to make but God himself empowers us to do so. <o:p></o:p></span></div>

<div class="MsoNormal" style="mso-layout-grid-align: none; mso-pagination: none; text-autospace: none;">

self-discipline comes easy and one area of your life that self-control is a
struggle. What are the differences between the two?<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>What is one thing you can do today to have

Psalm 18:35 You have also given me the shield of salvation, And your right hand upholds me and your gentleness makes me great.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; color: #333333; font-family: Georgia, Utopia, 'Palatino Linotype', Palatino, serif; font-size: 14px; line-height: 20px;">

<u style="font-style: italic;">Thoughts to ponder-</u> </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; color: #333333; font-family: Georgia, Utopia, 'Palatino Linotype', Palatino, serif; font-size: 14px; line-height: 20px;">
God's gentleness in us and working through us makes us great. But not for our own sakes, for the sake of the work He has called us to do in His Kingdom. Gentleness, like the other fruit of the Spirit, is given to us as a gift, but we must open that gift, learn about it and put it into use for it to fully use it and see it working in our lives.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; color: #333333; font-family: Georgia, Utopia, 'Palatino Linotype', Palatino, serif; font-size: 14px; line-height: 20px;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; color: #333333; font-family: Georgia, Utopia, 'Palatino Linotype', Palatino, serif; font-size: 14px; line-height: 20px;">
Some people confuse timidity or frailty with gentleness. Gentleness is NOT weakness but rather the skill to wield power effectively. It is using the power of God in us to draw others to Him by dealing with others in firm but tender ways. When we choose not to respond to others with harshness or severity but in tenderness and kindness we are operating in gentleness.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; color: #333333; font-family: Georgia, Utopia, 'Palatino Linotype', Palatino, serif; font-size: 14px; line-height: 20px;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; color: #333333; font-family: Georgia, Utopia, 'Palatino Linotype', Palatino, serif; font-size: 14px; line-height: 20px;">
Gentleness is also tied to humility. In Matthew 11:29 Jesus tells His disciples "...I am gentle and humble in heart...". I think to be gentle and humble of heart means that we know who we are in Christ and walk in a God-confidence which that knowledge brings. However, at the same time we do not think too highly of ourselves. We understand that with out Christ we are nothing. When gentleness becomes developed in our lives, we give up the need to defend or justify ourselves for the sake of being right. As we rest quietly in God and allow Him to work through our gentle actions towards others, He upholds us and makes us great witnesses to His transforming power available to all who believe.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; color: #333333; font-family: Georgia, Utopia, 'Palatino Linotype', Palatino, serif; font-size: 14px; line-height: 20px;">
<br /></div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; color: #333333; font-family: Georgia, Utopia, 'Palatino Linotype', Palatino, serif; font-size: 14px; line-height: 20px;">
Spend some time in prayer and ask God to show you any areas in your relationships that you tend to respond harshly or severely. Ask Him to reveal to you hoe He would like you to deal with similar situations in the future. Write it down so you will remember!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; color: #333333; font-family: Georgia, Utopia, 'Palatino Linotype', Palatino, serif; font-size: 14px; line-height: 20px;">
<br /></div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; color: #333333; font-family: Georgia, Utopia, 'Palatino Linotype', Palatino, serif; font-size: 14px; line-height: 20px;">
Thank you Lord that you have given us so much! Help us to understand and realize that every gift we have received from You is for Your glory and help us to find great joy in that as we develop the virtue of gentleness in our lives. ~Amen.</div>

<i><u>Key Bible Verse- </u></i></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; line-height: 20px;">
Lamentations 3:22-23</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; line-height: 20px;">
The Lord's loving kindnesses indeed never cease, for His compassions never fail. They are new every morning. Great is Your faithfulness.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; line-height: 20px;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; line-height: 20px;">
<u style="font-style: italic;">Thoughts to ponder-</u> </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; line-height: 20px;">
God demonstrates His faithfulness to us in the fact that He is the same yesterday, today and tomorrow. He is unchanging which means He can be counted on at ALL times. In our human nature, we do not always measure up to this standard. We do change and we do fail. That is why I am so thankful for today's scripture verse that lets us know that every day we have a new opportunity to live a Spirit led life and develop faithfulness. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; line-height: 20px;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; line-height: 20px;">
It is not easy by any means other than the empowerment of the Holy Spirit and can only be measured in the light of God's example, not man's standards. It is of utmost importance that we strive to be faithful to God for His purposes and not our own. Trying to prove to others that we are faithful does not result in good fruit because our focus is in the wrong place.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; line-height: 20px;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; line-height: 20px;">
God has given each one of us gifts and talents and created us each for specific purposes. Our energy should be directed at being faithful to what God has for us to do. We can only discern what that is by being consistent in prayer and pursuing our relationship with Christ. And then we must be obedient in what He reveals to us. If we do not use the skills and resources He has given us in service to His purposes, we lose them. Our goal should be to live a life of faithfulness that honors God so that at the end of it all, we will hear Him say "Well done good and faithful servant" Matthew 25:21a.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; line-height: 20px;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; line-height: 20px;">
<i><u>Challenge/Action Step-</u></i> </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; line-height: 20px;">
Think about people you would consider to be faithful. What has the impact of their faithfulness to God been on those around them? What do you think the impact could be on those around you if you were to be more persistent in cultivating faithfulness in your own life?</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; line-height: 20px;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; line-height: 20px;">
<i><u>Prayer for today-</u></i></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; line-height: 20px;">
Lord God, you are faithful all the time! Thank you for your mercy and grace when we miss the mark and new opportunities to begin again. I pray that you would give each of us a clear picture of what it means to be faithful to you and your purposes in our lives. Reveal to us the next step for developing this character in our lives today.</div>

<div class="separator" style="background-color: white; clear: both; color: #333333; font-family: Georgia, Utopia, 'Palatino Linotype', Palatino, serif; font-size: 14px; line-height: 20px;">
Matthew12:35 A good man brings good things out of the good stored up in him, and an evil man brings evil things out of the evil stored up in him.</div>
<div class="separator" style="background-color: white; clear: both; color: #333333; font-family: Georgia, Utopia, 'Palatino Linotype', Palatino, serif; font-size: 14px; line-height: 20px;">

<div class="separator" style="background-color: white; clear: both; color: #333333; font-family: Georgia, Utopia, 'Palatino Linotype', Palatino, serif; font-size: 14px; line-height: 20px;">
<u style="font-style: italic;">Thoughts to ponder-</u> </div>
<div class="separator" style="background-color: white; clear: both; color: #333333; font-family: Georgia, Utopia, 'Palatino Linotype', Palatino, serif; font-size: 14px; line-height: 20px;">
Goodness is the virtue of being favorable and possessing integrity. Easton's Bible Dictionary describes goodness like this: "Goodness in a man is not a mere passive quality, but the deliberate preference of right to wrong, the firm and persistent resistance of all moral evil, the choosing and following of all moral good."</div>
<div class="separator" style="background-color: white; clear: both; color: #333333; font-family: Georgia, Utopia, 'Palatino Linotype', Palatino, serif; font-size: 14px; line-height: 20px;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="background-color: white; clear: both; color: #333333; font-family: Georgia, Utopia, 'Palatino Linotype', Palatino, serif; font-size: 14px; line-height: 20px;">
There is a lot wrapped up in that definition. Simply said, goodness is a state of being AND doing. It is action and attitude tied together by choice. As believer's, we look to the Lord as our example. In Psalm 119:68 the author is speaking to God and says: "You are good and do good. Teach me Your statutes." To cultivate the virtue of goodness we must study God's word to learn about Him and His character since He IS good. We must be diligent students of Christ and avid listeners to the Holy Spirit in order to store up within us the good fruit we want to produce.</div>
<div class="separator" style="background-color: white; clear: both; color: #333333; font-family: Georgia, Utopia, 'Palatino Linotype', Palatino, serif; font-size: 14px; line-height: 20px;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="background-color: white; clear: both; color: #333333; font-family: Georgia, Utopia, 'Palatino Linotype', Palatino, serif; font-size: 14px; line-height: 20px;">
From beginning to end, the Bible reveals the moral divide between good and evil. God has even placed a conscience within us to help us determine the differences between the two. Our level of integrity will often be made know to us by the choices we make when no one else is watching. It is essential that we constantly try to do good things that honor God.</div>
<div class="separator" style="background-color: white; clear: both; color: #333333; font-family: Georgia, Utopia, 'Palatino Linotype', Palatino, serif; font-size: 14px; line-height: 20px;">

<div class="separator" style="background-color: white; clear: both; color: #333333; font-family: Georgia, Utopia, 'Palatino Linotype', Palatino, serif; font-size: 14px; line-height: 20px;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="background-color: white; clear: both; color: #333333; font-family: Georgia, Utopia, 'Palatino Linotype', Palatino, serif; font-size: 14px; line-height: 20px;">

The Bible has so much to say on the topic of goodness that it is difficult to cover well in a short devotional. Therefore, I would like to encourage you to do a quick word search for the words goodness, good and evil. Try to read about 3 to 4 verses for each word. Based on the verses you read write a definition for the goodness using your own words.</div>
<div class="separator" style="background-color: white; clear: both; color: #333333; font-family: Georgia, Utopia, 'Palatino Linotype', Palatino, serif; font-size: 14px; line-height: 20px;">

Father, you are good and you have called us to be filled with your goodness as well. Help us to make the right choices each and every day that are rooted in goodness, integrity and moral excellence. I pray that you would give us wisdom and understanding as we study your word and hide it in our hearts. ~ AMEN</div>

<u style="font-style: italic;">Thoughts to ponder-</u> </div>
<div class="separator" style="background-color: white; clear: both; color: #333333; font-family: Georgia, Utopia, 'Palatino Linotype', Palatino, serif; font-size: 14px; line-height: 20px;">
Our scripture verse cautions us to remember what God has done for us. His great kindness to us was the gift of His Son for the reconciliation of our sins. This was given out of His deep love for us. Kindness then, is born out of the choice to love others in the same manner that God loves us. It should create in us a profound desire to put that love into action demonstrated by generosity and compassion.</div>
<div class="separator" style="background-color: white; clear: both; color: #333333; font-family: Georgia, Utopia, 'Palatino Linotype', Palatino, serif; font-size: 14px; line-height: 20px;">

It involves giving of ourselves and our resources to encourage, inspire and brighten the lives of others. It should give those around us a glimpse of God's own tenderness and mercy. Everyone that we meet is in some stage of overcoming difficulties in this life. We can make a difference by showing kindness. This kind of love in action almost always requires sacrifice on our part. We will give of our time, our energy, our possessions, our finances, but all of these things pale in comparison to the sacrifice that Christ made for us. His example should compel us to do what we can when we can. </div>
<div class="separator" style="background-color: white; clear: both; color: #333333; font-family: Georgia, Utopia, 'Palatino Linotype', Palatino, serif; font-size: 14px; line-height: 20px;">

When we live a life showing gentleness and compassion, we will often find this kindness returned to us. It doesn't have to be difficult or complicated, the concept is as simple as treating others like we want to be treated. </div>
<div class="separator" style="background-color: white; clear: both; color: #333333; font-family: Georgia, Utopia, 'Palatino Linotype', Palatino, serif; font-size: 14px; line-height: 20px;">

If love is the embodiment of all of the other fruit of the Spirit as we discussed on day two, then patience is the backbone of the entire group. It is what enables us to be effective in all of these. It is essential to our character development and yet, it takes time and divine trust to cultivate in our lives.</div>
<div class="separator" style="background-color: white; clear: both; color: #333333; font-family: Georgia, Utopia, 'Palatino Linotype', Palatino, serif; font-size: 14px; line-height: 20px;">

<div class="separator" style="background-color: white; clear: both; color: #333333; font-family: Georgia, Utopia, 'Palatino Linotype', Palatino, serif; font-size: 14px; line-height: 20px;">
Patience means to have long suffering and to be slow to become angry. This requires the discipline and determination to put our immediate feelings and desires aside. Practicing patience is about extending grace to our own circumstances and to the people around us. In relationships, it means valuing what God wants to do in someone else more than you value what you want to have happen and it involves being tolerant, in love, of where the other person is in their walk with Christ.</div>
<div class="separator" style="background-color: white; clear: both; color: #333333; font-family: Georgia, Utopia, 'Palatino Linotype', Palatino, serif; font-size: 14px; line-height: 20px;">

<div class="separator" style="background-color: white; clear: both; color: #333333; font-family: Georgia, Utopia, 'Palatino Linotype', Palatino, serif; font-size: 14px; line-height: 20px;">
Most importantly, patience depends upon trusting that God's timing is is perfect and agreeing in humility with Jesus statement "Father...yet not as I will, but as You will". (Matthew 26:39)</div>
<div class="separator" style="background-color: white; clear: both; color: #333333; font-family: Georgia, Utopia, 'Palatino Linotype', Palatino, serif; font-size: 14px; line-height: 20px;">

<div class="separator" style="background-color: white; clear: both; color: #333333; font-family: Georgia, Utopia, 'Palatino Linotype', Palatino, serif; font-size: 14px; line-height: 20px;">

Think about the things that most often cause you to become impatient. Ask God to help you discern the reasons for it. What is one thing you can do today to develop greater patience?</div>
<div class="separator" style="background-color: white; clear: both; color: #333333; font-family: Georgia, Utopia, 'Palatino Linotype', Palatino, serif; font-size: 14px; line-height: 20px;">

Father we thank you that you are a patient God and slow to anger. I pray today that You would shine a light on our hearts and help us to discern the reasons we become so impatient at times. I pray that You would empower us with the discipline and determination to develop the character of patience in our life. ~ Amen</div>

John 14:27 Peace I leave with you; My peace I give to you. Do not let your heart be troubled, nor let it be fearful.</div>
<div class="separator" style="background-color: white; clear: both; color: #333333; font-family: Georgia, Utopia, 'Palatino Linotype', Palatino, serif; font-size: 14px; line-height: 20px;">

<i><u>Thoughts to ponder-</u></i></div>
<div class="separator" style="background-color: white; clear: both; color: #333333; font-family: Georgia, Utopia, 'Palatino Linotype', Palatino, serif; font-size: 14px; line-height: 20px;">
We live in a world filled with hustle and bustle, comings and goings, people to meet, things to do, life to schedule, organize and control. Many people try to live at the speed of light, to do more, see more and be more. No wonder we find ourselves overcome by worry and anxiety; lacking tranquility and serenity. God left us an answer for all of that through Jesus Christ. He was the embodiment of peace.</div>
<div class="separator" style="background-color: white; clear: both; color: #333333; font-family: Georgia, Utopia, 'Palatino Linotype', Palatino, serif; font-size: 14px; line-height: 20px;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="background-color: white; clear: both; color: #333333; font-family: Georgia, Utopia, 'Palatino Linotype', Palatino, serif; font-size: 14px; line-height: 20px;">
In the Bible, we almost always see Jesus portrayed as taking things in stride, very little ruffled his feathers. Even when He turned over the tables in the temple, we know it wasn't just that He lost His cool because the Bible says He took time to make a whip. What happened in the temple was peace and strength under control. The only other time I know of that we see Jesus under strain is in the garden before His crucifixion when He is praying not His will but the Father's. He submits Himself to the peace of His Heavenly Father. When everyone else around Him was anxious, He had the ability to quiet their fears and doubts quickly. When I read Mark 4:39 where it states "and He said to the sea, peace, be still" I often wonder if that wasn't a command intended for the disciples as well.</div>
<div class="separator" style="background-color: white; clear: both; color: #333333; font-family: Georgia, Utopia, 'Palatino Linotype', Palatino, serif; font-size: 14px; line-height: 20px;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="background-color: white; clear: both; color: #333333; font-family: Georgia, Utopia, 'Palatino Linotype', Palatino, serif; font-size: 14px; line-height: 20px;">
Peace is quiet tranquility, mental calm and serenity. But most importantly it is a gift of spending time with God and learning to trust Him. The more we put our confidence in the Lord for every detail in our life and the more we relinquish control of our life to Christ, the more we purposely shift our focus to the things of God, the more peace is available to us.</div>
<div class="separator" style="background-color: white; clear: both; color: #333333; font-family: Georgia, Utopia, 'Palatino Linotype', Palatino, serif; font-size: 14px; line-height: 20px;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="background-color: white; clear: both; color: #333333; font-family: Georgia, Utopia, 'Palatino Linotype', Palatino, serif; font-size: 14px; line-height: 20px;">

Busyness can often interfere with our rest and therefore our peace. Take an inventory of the areas of your life that are the most stressful. Would more resting in the Lord bring about a greater connectedness to God's peace? Are you able to refocus on Christ in the midst of a chaotic life? Ask God in prayer today to reveal to you His peace and specific ways you can embrace it in your own life. </div>
<div class="separator" style="background-color: white; clear: both; color: #333333; font-family: Georgia, Utopia, 'Palatino Linotype', Palatino, serif; font-size: 14px; line-height: 20px;">

Thank you Father for sending us your peace in the form of your son Jesus. May the activity of life fade away enough for us to be able to rest in your peace. Hebrews 12:2 "fixing our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy set before Him endured the cross despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God." NASB</div>
<div class="separator" style="background-color: white; clear: both; color: #333333; font-family: Georgia, Utopia, 'Palatino Linotype', Palatino, serif; font-size: 14px; line-height: 20px;">

<div class="separator" style="background-color: white; clear: both; color: #333333; font-family: Georgia, Utopia, 'Palatino Linotype', Palatino, serif; font-size: 14px; line-height: 20px;">
<u style="font-style: italic;">Thoughts to ponder-</u> </div>
<div class="separator" style="background-color: white; clear: both; color: #333333; font-family: Georgia, Utopia, 'Palatino Linotype', Palatino, serif; font-size: 14px; line-height: 20px;">
In scripture, joy is an inner result of our outward expression of our relationship with God in service to those around us. Jesus went to the cross for "the joy set before Him". It was His outward expression of the Father's love for us. Our reconciliation to a personal relationship with God was the joy Christ was willing to die for in service to us while we were still undeserving.</div>
<div class="separator" style="background-color: white; clear: both; color: #333333; font-family: Georgia, Utopia, 'Palatino Linotype', Palatino, serif; font-size: 14px; line-height: 20px;">

<div class="separator" style="background-color: white; clear: both; color: #333333; font-family: Georgia, Utopia, 'Palatino Linotype', Palatino, serif; font-size: 14px; line-height: 20px;">
In like manner, we are to be in such a close relationship with the Father and Christ that we experience joy in serving others and revealing God's glory to them. Joy is all about what God has done and is continuing to do in our lives and the lives of those we love. (Which if you remember from yesterday, loving others is a choice.) Joy differs from happiness in the sense that happiness is often rooted in our circumstances, our personal desires and hopes. To truly experience the calm delight of joy, we must look beyond our selves and our hardships and walk closely with God for the sake of His purposes. </div>
<div class="separator" style="background-color: white; clear: both; color: #333333; font-family: Georgia, Utopia, 'Palatino Linotype', Palatino, serif; font-size: 14px; line-height: 20px;">

Since God puts people in our live for a reason take a minute to think about the people you know that are the most joyful, how are they different from other people you know and what can you learn from them? Ask God to reveal to you way you can practice joy and make a list of the things He shows you. Please share one of those things with us in the comments below.</div>

Love is listed as the first fruit of the Spirit. As we read the verses listed above, we can see that love embodies most if not all of the other eight virtues included in the fruit of the Spirit. Many of the others listed could technically be practiced on their own without love. However, it is impossible to remove all of the other virtues and have love remain. </div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
The love of God in us and extended through us is vital to a Spirit led life because it is what should identify us as Christ followers. The ability to love one another, not just our brothers and sisters in Christ but EVERYONE, is central to revealing God's love to those around us. Jesus puts it to us this way in John 13: 34-35 ~ <span style="color: #be0004;">“A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another,
even as I have loved you, that you also love one another.</span><span style="color: #343434;"> </span><span style="color: #be0004;">By
this all men will know that you are My disciples, if you have love for one
another."</span></div>

I have a refrigerator magnet that reminds me "Love is a daily decision". That means even when I don't feel like it, even when people are difficult, it is my responsibility to CHOOSE to love. By cultivating my relationship with God regularly, I can submit my view of things to Him and allow Him to love through me. His power to do this is available to all who are willing to receive it.</div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
Identify someone in your life that is difficult for you to love and ask God for the ability to see them as God sees them. Does this change your <i>willingness </i>to love them? Now think of a very practical way of showing that person God's love and commit to doing that by the end of this challenge. </div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<u><br /></u></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<i><u>Key Bible Verse-</u></i></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Galatians 5: 22-23: But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control; against these there is no law. (NASB)</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<i><u>Thoughts to ponder-</u></i></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
There is a process to cultivating, growing and harvesting the fruit of the Spirit. These virtues don't just automatically show up in our life. They are a product of a heart dedicated to following after the Lord. The Spirit does empower us to do the work it takes to ripen beautiful, sweet, aromatic fruit that can be a blessing in our own life and a meaningful witness to God's grace and power to those around us. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Some of these fruits are easier for us to cultivate, they just come more naturally. Others are more challenging, they require more attention and care. I know in my life, I often have to "pull weeds" or take inventory of my thoughts and actions and bring them back into alignment with God's word. If I don't, those virtues get choked out and my walk with God is not as effective as it should be. Fortunately, God is a God of wisdom and grace. When we find weeds the gardens of our life, the Lord is there for us to seek guidance and direction from. He will reveal to us what we need to do when we ask.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<i><u>Challenge/Action Step-</u></i> </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Look at all nine of the fruits mentioned in the scripture above. Determine which one is easiest for you to cultivate and which one do you often find yourself pulling weeds from? Spend some time in prayer asking God to reveal to you the source of those weeds and what He wants you to do to remove them. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">

Father, we come to you today and lay our strengths and our weaknesses at your feet. We ask you to lead us with your Spirit, reveal to us how to operate in your power and how to cultivate a fruitful life that honors you. ~ Amen</div>

I am so excited about this ten day journey to a closer walk with God! Romans 8:14 states "For all who are being led by the Spirit of God, these are the sons of God." I don't know about you, but sometimes I need to be a little more focused to grow in my relationship with God and allow myself to be led by the Spirit. Life gets busy and in the way so often, but I decided that I would do a challenge for myself. Then I thought I might really get more from it if I shared it with others. So I hope you will join me on this journey!</div>
<div align="left" style="color: #555555; direction: ltr; font-family: 'Helvetica Neue', Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 15px; line-height: 1.5em; margin-bottom: 1.3em; padding: 0px; unicode-bidi: embed; vertical-align: baseline;">
<span style="line-height: 1.5em;">As Christians it should be our earnest desire to be led by the Spirit. God's word tells us that the act of living a spirit led life is living a fruitful life. There will be virtues developed in the process and it is our job to cultivate those fruits. Beginning on Monday June 30th, I will share a brief daily devotional covering The Fruits of The Spirit as well as a "challenge" for cultivating that virtue in your daily life. I will do this here on my blog.</span></div>
<div align="left" style="color: #555555; direction: ltr; font-family: 'Helvetica Neue', Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 15px; line-height: 1.5em; margin-bottom: 1.3em; padding: 0px; unicode-bidi: embed; vertical-align: baseline;">
Each day I will also post the link to the devotional and challenge here to my <a href="https://www.facebook.com/CherryFargo?ref_type=bookmark" style="color: #3693cc; text-decoration: none; word-break: break-word;" target="_blank">Facebook page</a>, as well as inspirational quotes, Bible verses and thoughts about the daily topic. It is my hope and prayer that you will join in the discussions about Living The Fruitful Life on my Facebook page or in the comments below. Your insights might just be exactly what someone else participating in this challenge needs to hear.</div>

<br />
<br />Yesterday, today and forever is a long long time. Have you ever thought about it? That the days<br />
<br />
<div>
since time began are like the stars in the sky themselves. More than we can fathom. And yet God's </div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
forgiveness spans them all. When we surrender to Christ, when we repent, forgiveness is extended to </div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
us, not just for yesterday, and not only for today but forever because God knows the beginning from </div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
the end. He sees our future failures and forgives them for all time. Yes we may still need to come to </div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
Him and repent, we may still need to make amends, we may even still be subjected to the earthly </div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
consequences of our sin but the gift of forgiveness is unending. </div>
<div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
In Matthew, Jesus shares a story about how we are to handle forgiveness of those who sin against us: </div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
<span class="verse v21" data-usfm="MAT.18.21" style="-webkit-background-clip: padding; background-clip: padding-box; background-color: white; border: 0px; color: #444444; cursor: pointer; font-family: 'Helvetica Neue', Arial, 'Liberation Sans', FreeSans, sans-serif; font-size: 17px; line-height: 34px; margin: 0px 0px 0px 3px; padding: 0px;"><span class="label" style="-webkit-background-clip: padding; background-clip: padding-box; border: 0px; color: #666666; font-weight: bold; line-height: 1; margin: 0.9em 4px 0px 0px; padding: 0px;">21</span><span class="content" style="-webkit-background-clip: padding; background-clip: padding-box; border: 0px; margin: 0px; padding: 0px;">Then Peter came and said to Him, "Lord, how often shall my brother sin against me and I forgive him? Up to seven times?" </span></span><span class="verse v22" data-usfm="MAT.18.22" style="-webkit-background-clip: padding; background-clip: padding-box; background-color: white; border: 0px; color: #444444; font-family: 'Helvetica Neue', Arial, 'Liberation Sans', FreeSans, sans-serif; font-size: 17px; line-height: 34px; margin: 0px 0px 0px 3px; padding: 0px;"><span class="label" style="-webkit-background-clip: padding; background-clip: padding-box; border: 0px; color: #666666; font-weight: bold; line-height: 1; margin: 0.9em 4px 0px 0px; padding: 0px;">22</span><span class="content" style="-webkit-background-clip: padding; background-clip: padding-box; border: 0px; margin: 0px; padding: 0px;">Jesus said to him, </span><span class="wj" style="-webkit-background-clip: padding; background-clip: padding-box; border: 0px; margin: 0px; padding: 0px;"><span class="content" style="-webkit-background-clip: padding; background-clip: padding-box; border: 0px; color: #cc0000; margin: 0px; padding: 0px;">"I do not say to you, up to seven times, but up to seventy times seven.</span></span></span></div>
<div>
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"><span style="line-height: 34px;">Now the notes that I have read and the sermons I have heard, suggest that this meant 490 times PER DAY and PER OFFENSE . So if someone hurts your feelings 490 times today, God calls you to forgive them 490 times and if they steal from you 490 times in the same day, God wants you to forgive all those offenses as well. I know this seems a bit irrational in the natural and I believe that God wants us to use wisdom, just because we forgive someone doesn't mean that we are giving them permission to continue in their bad behavior. God will show us appropriate boundaries we can exercise when we seek him. </span></span><span style="font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', serif; line-height: 34px;">But I wanted to share this with you today because sometimes God places people in our life that seem to abuse our grace and mercy and we find it difficult to forgive them over and over again. </span></div>
<div>
<span style="font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', serif; line-height: 34px;"><br /></span></div>
<div>
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"><span style="line-height: 34px;">I encourage you to ask God for two things if you are dealing with someone like this in your own life. The first is to ask God to allow you to see them as He sees them: what wound, what addiction, what temptation enables them to offend you again and again? Then genuinely pray for their healing and victory over those things. The second thing to request from God is the ability to settle it in your heart that you forgive them yesterday, today & tomorrow just as He has. It is a choice to forgive, a choice based on the infinite forgiveness God extends to each one of us. If you do this, I am pretty sure that the next time that person offends you, you will find a peace in knowing that you've already rejected hanging on to bitterness and wounding by having decided that yesterday, today and forever, you have forgiven like God has forgiven you. </span></span></div>
<div>
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"><span style="line-height: 34px;"><br /></span></span></div>
<div>
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"><span style="line-height: 34px;">Is there a difficult person in your life that you can apply this to today?</span></span></div>
<div>
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"><span style="line-height: 34px;"><br /></span></span></div>
<div>
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"><span style="line-height: 34px;">Many Blessings,</span></span></div>

A lot of people who come to Christ think that their new life with Jesus is going to be a cake walk: you might not always win the prize but at least it’s always fun and easy right? NOT right at all. God doesn’t promise us a happy go lucky life just because we choose to follow Him. He does offer us peace for the storms, hope for the trials, grace for the mistakes, and strength for the battles. And there WILL be storms, trials, mistakes and battles a plenty because the enemy wants to steal from you and try to destroy your life. He can NOT steal your salvation, so he will do everything he can to try to steal your hope, your peace and your strength in order to distract you and keep you from the overcoming, powerful, victorious life God intends you to walk in. Be prepared so that when the enemy attacks and life gets hard, you don’t throw in the towel, don’t quit, don’t get distracted, don’t surrender! These are the only way the enemy can win, but no matter how difficult the battle, fighting for all that God has for you – IT IS WORTH IT!</div>

I just thought I would do a quick review of the craft show I attended as a vendor over the weekend. Can I just start by saying that this is one well put together shindig for shoppers and vendors alike!!! I had the fortunate privilege of being positioned right by the front door and information booth so I had a bird's eye view of some of the inner workings of the event.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
Nothing can make or break a craft show more than organization and the Lightening Dancers of Central High School in Keller have it going on! Vendors were greeted by a slough of helpers upon arrival, I think the only things I actually carried in were my cashbox and handbag. So a big thank you to all those volunteers for a job well done!! But shoppers were also treated fabulously when they arrived. Everyone had the opportunity to sign up for a free door prize, all donated by vendors, and with well over 200 vendors, that's a lot of goodies that were given away. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
From a shoppers viewpoint, this was a great show, there was so much variety, vendors in two gyms, the cafeteria, down the hallways. Lots of beautiful items and fabulous services abounded. The concessions were yummy and most were reasonably priced too. I was a little frustrated for some of the shoppers because they ended up winning prizes from vendors who packed up early and left. I am not sure why those sellers did that but generally speaking, that is not fair to the shoppers or promoters of the show and is usually frowned upon. The show leaders were however very accommodating at making sure those customers received door prizes from an alternate booth. And if you missed out this time around, their fall show will be November 8th & 9th. I am sure it will be a great time to shop then as well.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
From a vendor standpoint I also think this was a great show, however, it was a spring show so foot traffic was slower, most seasoned vendors understand that spring shows are more about making contacts and promoting your brand than making huge profits, that's what fall shows are for. I was very pleased early in the day with the volunteers who were there to "babysit" my booth so I could make a trip to the restroom and then later the fetched some lunch for me. Late in the day, the help seemed to be a little scarcer which was a bit disappointing but helpers were quick to respond to vendors' needs when asked. For a one day spring show it was a really long day starting at 9:00 am and running until 5:00 pm. Personally I would love be a vendor at this show again but would hope that they would consider adjusting their spring hours to 10:00 am to 4:00pm. Many booths started packing up to leave 60 to 90 minutes early which sends a signal to many potential clients that vendors are done for the day, so they often stop shopping when they see that going on. Again, this is not a best practice for vendors, it hurts the credibility of the event, the hard work of all the volunteers and your fellow vendors. I understand sometimes life happens and it is unavoidable, but otherwise, I would really like to see sellers honoring their agreements to participate in a show for the ENTIRETY of the show.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
All in all, I would give this show a thumbs up, 4 out of 5 stars!! I had a great time, got to visit with some fabulous people and will be drawing a name today for the winner of my giveaway. What's the prize??? Check back later in the week to find out what I am giving away to one lucky shopper from the show and where you can sign up for the next giveaway.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
<i><br /></i></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
<i>Thank you Lightening Dancers!</i></div>

<br />
#1 - Wear comfortable shoes. You may be use to doing all day shopping marathons in the mall but unlike many traditional retail stores, craft show venues may not have a place for you to sit down and rest. Also, one of those lightweight but strong reusable grocery tote bags would be great to have on hand for all of the fun purchases you'll be making.<br />
<br />
#2 - Consider shopping early. If you are a fan of handmade you might miss some fabulous one of a kind items by waiting until later in the day. If you see something you love AND it's in your budget, grab it while you can. I hate to see the disappointment on customers faces when they come back for that piece that they decided they had to have, only to find it's already been sold. Yes, sometimes an artist can make you another one, typically it's not going to be an exact duplicate though so keep that in mind.<br />
<br />
#3 - Ask the artist and crafters you meet about the stories and inspiration behind their craft. Knowing how something came to be is often very interesting and makes the piece that much more desirable to give as a gift, even if it's a gift for yourself.<br />
<br />
#4 - Grab business cards. Many vendors have online shops and would love to connect with you on social media. They often offer special coupons and discounts that can only be found on the internet. Many of them often have great blogs too.<br />
<br />
#5. Even if you can't afford to purchase something you genuinely like, let the artist know you appreciate their work. Vendors often spend countless hours preparing for a show and long days (10 - 12 hours) at the event itself. They will be glad to hear that you see value in what they do.<br />
<br />
So grab a friend and enjoy your craft show shopping adventure.<br />
<br />

#1 - A little free time. What can you help with to make that happen? Wash some dishes, take out some trash, do some laundry, sweep and mop, all done with out being asked! Not only does it free up a little time for her but it helps her to know that she is raising (or has raised) great kids. And if you're grown and can afford, hire a housekeeper to help her out once in awhile.<br />
<br />
#2 - A coupon book for doing various chores or nice things for her. This is actually one of my favorites. I love it when my kiddos take the time and make the effort to do something special for me. I may never use all those coupons but for me it is definitely the thought that counts and I bet it is for a lot of other moms too.<br />
<br />
#3 - A play date with you. Yes, I did say that. Set aside some time to do something with your mom that she really loves. It may not be up your alley but she will be thrilled that you are willing to do something with her that she enjoys. Moms love sharing who they are and what they are interested in with you. <br />
<br />
#4 - To know that she is appreciated. Lots of moms make lots of sacrifices and do lots of things that they are really not fond of doing just for their kiddos. They do it out of a genuine love for their child. Let her know you recognize that, say it aloud or write it in a card, write a poem or a song, whatever you do best. Just make sure she knows you appreciate her hard work and sacrifice.<br />
<br />
#5 - Your prayers. Being a mom is a fabulous thing. It also one of the most challenging things women do. We need our children's prayers for wisdom, strength, mercy & grace. Not every mom had the best example growing up but I think most moms are doing the very best they know how to do. Your prayers will encourage her and inspire her. Write a special prayer out and give it to her for Mother's Day, I bet you bring tears to her eyes. Not many other gifts are going to do that.<br />
<br />
If you are a mom, please share in the comments below, the best Mother's day gift you have ever received. <br />
<br />
<i>Happy Mother's Day to all of the fabulous mom's out there. May it be full of blessings!</i><br />
